"The Guernsey Fund"

Since we started Explorer Scouts way back last October, there has been talk of a trip to Guernsey. Exactly where this idea came from we do not know, but the between our leaders they thought it up. When this idea was presented to the Explorers, there was a lot of interest and enthusiasm. The trip has been scheduled to take place in the summer of 2004, with most of the Explorers wanting to take part in this once in a lifetime adventure. However, the trip will not be cheap. To try and allow as many to go as possible, we need to keep prices low, which is why we have been taking part in a number of events to raise money. This fundraising extravaganza has become known as "The Guernsey Fund". So far we have had two main events to raise money, these being a horse racing evening and the sponsored "Round The Harbours Bike Ride". We have also set up a "Swear Box" that is used at all Explorer and uniformed events. If you swear, you pay a fine of 25p. Not a lot but in the long run it will add up!
