Course 'B' Saturdays

Course 'C' Wednesdays
6pm-7.30pm May17th, 24th,30th June7th,14th,21st(test)
Course 'D' Saturdays
10.30am-12noon. Sept.2nd,9th,16th,23rd,30th,Oct7th(test)
BCU Two Star, Includes a 6 km
journey. Age

Course 'E' Saturdays 9am-10.30am May

Course 'F' Saturdays
9am-10.30am July 8th,15th,22nd,Sept2nd,9th,16th,23rd,30th,or

Course 'H' Wednesdays
6pm-7.30pm June 28th, July 5th,12th,19th,26th + Sept 6th, 13th, 20th or
27th, (test options)
Scout INSTRUCTOR badge.(minimum two
star) Age

Course I Saturdays
10am - 12 noon.March18th and 25th(both indoors) How to teach any subject. April
29th
Practical teaching (on the lake) Pupils then have to help instruct at 12
sessions.
BCU Three Star (minimum two star
and with stamina) Age
13plus
Course 'G' Saturdays 12noon-1.30pm May 6th to July
22nd and Sept.2nd to Oct 7th. This is 18 Saturdays but you do
not
have to attend all. There is continuous monitoring and you are tested when
ready. You
must
complete three 10km journeys which finish at about 4pm.Dates-to be announced.
NOTE. Rolling is a requirement and this cannot be taught at the lake --see below
BCU CADET LEADER AWARD.
Age 13 to 16
For anyone who has passed two star (but preferably three
star),especially if they might go on to coaching when 16.
The course comprises
instruction in all aspects of coaching, including First Response and Junior
Canoe Safety Test
plus coaching
pupils under the supervision of an adult coach. Cost includes membership of
the BCU (currently £16)
The log book will be
paid for from our training fund. Coaching is on Saturday mornings. during
sessions.
BCU Canoe Safety Test.(Minimum three
star and 14 years) Age
15plus
Course 'S' Saturdays 10am-12.March 4th and 11th
Theory(Indoors),Practical in May (date to be notified) (On lake)
. Test on a Saturday during June
BCU Four Star.(Sea)(Minimum good
three star and strong ) Age
15plus
Course 'J' Theory Saturdays Feb. 4th and 11th,
April 1st..At least one ‘sea skills’ evening session. Minimum 3 'Sea' journeys
9am-4pm-
varies-mostly Sundays one per month from April on the Solent until everyone has
done at least three.
COST One star £6,Two star £7,Three star £8,Four
star, Instructor Badge, Canoe Safety, £5 each.
Cadet
Leader Award £16 BCU Junior membership.
BCU badges and certificates are optional. Current prices 1 or 2 star £2.50. 3, 4
star or Canoe Safety £6 members,£12 non
members.
Kayak Rolling 'R' Thursdays 7.45pm-9.15pm at St.Vincent Leisure Centre Pool, Mill Road, Gosport.
£2 per evening. The number of evenings
depends on your adaptability.
Individual
tuition by Scouts and Leaders. Leave when you can roll.

TASTERS If
your troop/unit/Company has not tried kayaking,
ring Ken to arrange a session ONLY ONE SESSION PER UNIT
Monday, Tuesday, some Friday evenings, some
Saturday afternoons. .
(a donation is desirable, £1 per person is
usual)

July Kayak Regatta on Stoke Lake : Sept Pulling & Kayak Regatta on
Stoke Lake,
SEPT 24th. .BASINGSTOKE CANAL CHALLENGE (2,6
or 8 miles)
Do you
enjoy kayaking but cannot get on any course ? If you are two or
three star you can be an instructor, at times to suit yourself.
